The Afterthought, Little Rock's favorite old neighborhood bar, has successfully hosted the Monday Jazz Project since 1996.
Located in a historic building at the corner of Kavanaugh and Beechwood in central Little Rock's Hillcrest area, the Afterthought offers a full-service drink menu, a dance floor and live music every night. The 30- year-old bar recently underwent extensive remodeling and is now smoke-free.
Adjacent to the Afterthought is Vieux Carre, a Southern bistro serving delectable dishes with a regional twist in a friendly neighborhood setting.
The Afterthought is just the right venue for the Monday Jazz Project, providing a comfortable space for the excellent acts booked by the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation. The Foundation assesses a cover charge each Monday to help defray Project expenses.
In addition to the jazz presented on Monday nights, music at the Afterthought Tuesday through Saturday ranges from smooth jazz and blues to jam-rock and reggae. Cover charges are generally assessed on Fridays and Saturdays only.
The Afterthought is open 4:30 to midnight Monday through Saturday, with happy hour 4:30 -7:30 p.m.
Vieux Carre is open for lunch Monday through Friday, dinner Monday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday.
