i. j. Routen Swoons into the AfterThought for 2 Shows
Immediate Release: Monday, February 16, 2004, Two Shows 8 p.m. (Non-Smoking), $10 cover includes admission to both halves, and 9:30 p.m. (Smoking), $5 cover for 9:30 p.m. only. On February 16, 2004 vocalist i.j. Routen returns to Monday Jazz Project at the Afterthought with Buck Powell on piano, David Higginbotham on bass, and Randy McDonald at the drums and other special guests, Two Shows, 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., first show is Non-Smoking, $10 cover includes admission to both shows. Second Show smoking permitted, $5 cover. Ms. Routen has toured with Boz Scaggs, Ferlin Husky, Steve Miller, Merle Haggard, Luther Vandross, and Stevie Wonder. She was an MGM recording artist opening for Mongo Santamaria, John Williams, Stan Getz, and toured Europe with Tony Orlando and Dawn. While in Los Angeles she performed regularly at Joan River's Supper Club, the Gardenia, The Lighthouse, Playboy and Comedy Clubs. While in Arkansas she has devoted her life to education. As a music specialist at Rockefeller Elementary in Little Rock she directed the Rockefeller Show Choir and took the group to performances at New York's Carnegie Hall and a tour of Europe. She has completed a Doctorate in Higher Education and Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Routen currently is working as Academic/Faculty Coordinator for the Little Rock School District and teaches at UALR. Ms. Routen is also the Choir Director at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock. All dates at the Afterthought 2721 Kavanaugh, Little Rock. (501) 663-1196. Mar 1 - John Bush Quintet Featuring John Bush-Saxophone, with Buck Powell-piano, Walter Henderson-trumpet Joe Vick-bass, and Dave Rogers-drums, 8 p.m., $5 cover. Mar 8 - Guitarist Michael Carenbauer With Joe Vick-bass, and Dave Rogers-drums, 8 p.m., $5 cover. Mar 15 - Clayton Cooper and the Dave Rogers Trio Featuring Clayton Cooper-Saxophone, with Dan Sieckman-guitar, Joe Vick-bass, and Dave Rogers-drums. 8 p.m., $5 cover.
